Emergency power cuts hit Kyiv as Russian strikes on energy grid disrupt water, metro and trams
On the morning of 8 October, emergency power outages were applied across Kyiv and parts of Kyiv Oblast after Russian strikes damaged high-voltage transmission equipment, knocking out scheduled cuts. The voltage drop reduced water pressure on the right bank of the capital, delayed trams and trolleybuses, and in the evening forced the temporary suspension of metro service.
