BND
The BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst) is the foreign intelligence agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. It reports to the German federal government and functions as Germany's principal external intelligence service. Its headquarters is in Berlin. The agency is led by a president appointed by the federal government.

German intelligence chief warns Bundestag of new, more dangerous phase of confrontation with Russia
The head of Germany's Federal Intelligence Service (BND), Martin Jäger, told the Bundestag that the confrontation with Russia has acquired a new, more dangerous character and that Germany risks being drawn into a violent conflict with Russia. Jäger described Russian actions as a "shadow war" and warned of renewed nuclear intimidation, while noting the BND currently sees no signs of a large-scale Russian attack on NATO territory.

Germany to boost Ukraine military aid after blaming Russia for Leipzig airport drone attack
On 1 September Germany formally blamed Russia for a series of drone incidents at Leipzig/Halle airport in August and announced a package of response measures. Berlin plans to supply Ukraine with thousands of strike drones and Iris-T air-defence missiles in September, deepen intelligence cooperation, and push for tougher EU sanctions. Germany also decided to close Russia's consulate in Bonn and terminate the lease of the "Russian House" in Berlin. The AfD in the Bundestag called for investigating a possible "Ukrainian trace," putting it at odds with the government's position.
