AvtoVAZ
AvtoVAZ is the largest passenger car manufacturer in Russia, best known for its Lada brand. The company is headquartered in Tolyatti, in the Samara Oblast. Founded in 1966 as a Soviet–Italian joint venture with Fiat, AvtoVAZ produced widely used models such as the Zhiguli and Niva. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union the company was privatised, and ownership subsequently changed hands several times, including a period of control by the Renault–Nissan alliance. After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Renault transferred its stake to Russian state-controlled entities. AvtoVAZ remains the dominant player on the Russian automotive market, accounting for a substantial share of new passenger car sales in the country.
