The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are the military structure subordinate to the Ministry of Defence of Russia and operating under the supreme command of the country's president. Since 24 February 2022, the Russian army has been waging a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, accompanied by massive shelling of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure. Strikes on civilian and humanitarian objects, including World Health Organization warehouses in the Odessa region, are a characteristic feature of this war.

Russian drone strikes hit warehouses in Odesa Oblast, damaging WHO medical storage
Russian drone strikes on warehouse facilities in Odesa Oblast on 22 September caused large-scale fires, killing one person, injuring two, and damaging a World Health Organization warehouse in Chornomorsk that stored temperature-controlled medical supplies. WHO said it was the fourth time in three months that this particular warehouse was hit and the 21st strike on medical storage facilities in 2026.
