Alternative for Germany
Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) is a right-wing populist political party in Germany, founded in 2013. It began as a Eurosceptic party and later shifted further right on immigration and national identity. The AfD holds seats in the Bundestag and in several state parliaments, with its strongest support concentrated in eastern Germany. The party has drawn repeated criticism for extremist positions and for the tolerance shown by some of its members toward far-right movements.
