Serial production of over 5,000 long-range combat drones for Ukraine begins near Munich
A joint venture of German-American defense company Auterion and Ukrainian partner Airlogix has started serial production of more than 5,000 long-range kamikaze drones for Ukraine at a facility near Munich. The order, placed by the German government and worth around 300 million euros, is to be fulfilled by mid-2027. The drones come in two variants, including one with a range of up to 1,500 km, and use AI to resist enemy electronic countermeasures.

Germany blames Russia for Leipzig airport drone attack, plans expanded military aid to Ukraine
Germany has officially attributed the August drone incidents at Leipzig/Halle airport — in which explosive-laden drones were found near Antonov/Ukrainian aircraft — to Russia, and announced a series of response measures. Berlin plans to increase military support to Ukraine, including thousands of strike drones and Iris-T missiles in September, and is pushing for tougher EU sanctions. The Bundestag is also preparing to grant Germany's BND expanded 'active measures' powers.
