Aidar Battalion

The Aidar Battalion is a Ukrainian volunteer military unit formed in 2014 during the Euromaidan to fight in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. It was originally established as a special police patrol battalion under the Ministry of Internal Affairs before being transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and expanded into the 24th Separate Assault Brigade named after King Danylo. Its fighters have been involved in combat in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, including around Shchastia and Stanytsia Luhanska. The unit became known both for its frontline role and for its engagement with volunteer and civilian initiatives during the war in Donbas.
