Ukraine's Khartiia corps details underground counter-offensive 'Veles' on Kupiansk axis
Ukraine's 2nd Corps of the National Guard, 'Khartiia', led an underground counter-offensive codenamed 'Veles' on the Kupiansk direction in Kharkiv Oblast, advancing more than 15 km through gas pipelines into the rear of Russian positions, the corps said on 22 October. The operation combined the underground advance with surface movement and drone strikes, and the corps said it captured more than 30 Russian soldiers and inflicted over 100 Russian casualties. The corps described 'Veles' as the world's first full-scale underground counter-offensive operation.
